Aeolia is a free game with no ads. Here you can find what it saves, why, where, and how to delete it.
Simone Notargiacomo, who makes the game. To write: mademindteam@gmail.com.
From a protected management page, only he can see the accounts (how they were created, when, the last sign-in and the email if there is one) and the game data tied to each, and he can suspend or delete an account, for example if it is used to cheat on the leaderboards. Every visit to that page is logged.
In the game’s storage on this device (in the web version, the browser’s storage for this site): the settings, your progress on the route, Cirro, saved matches, replays, feats, your answer about sending us matches, your name in the game and the opponents you met online. They stay there until you clear the game’s data.
When you open the route, save a match or play online, the game gets an anonymous code for this device from Firebase (in the web version, for this browser). Linked to that code are:
Also your email and password. Firebase keeps the password in encrypted form: we do not see it. If you sign in with Google, Google gives Firebase your email, your name and your Google profile photo: the game uses only the email. The name other players see is always the one you choose in the game.
To find errors and to see where the game is slow or where players get stuck, the game sends us some anonymous data:
There are no cookies and no code that recognises you: every time you open the game is like the first. We do not send your name in the game, your account, the chat or your IP address, and we do not keep the IP these data arrive from. We only look at them all together, to improve the game. A new error also becomes an automatic report on the server of the people who make the game (vedi.mademind.studio), with the same data and nothing else. We keep errors for 30 days and totals for 400 days. Since we do not know whose they are, we cannot look them up to delete them: that is why we collect nothing about you.
If you do not want to send them: Settings › Profile → “Send anonymous usage data”. The same happens if your browser has Global Privacy Control on.
We process them because we need to keep the game working and improve it (article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
After the first match you finish, the game asks whether you want to send us your matches. If you say yes, every match you finish is sent to us with:
We do not send your name in the game, your account, your email, the chat or your location, and we do not keep your IP address. Online matches are never sent, because they also hold the other player’s moves, and neither are those of the World of the Day, because their time sits in the leaderboard next to your name. No code links matches from different visits: the matches of one visit share a code that disappears when you close the game. We keep the time they arrive without the minutes.
They show us where the game is hard or boring and help us find bugs: we watch them again in the game’s replay viewer. Only the people who make the game see them, from the management page. We keep them for 12 months, then they are deleted automatically (Google’s safety copies go in the days after).
You can change your mind at any time: Settings › Profile → “Send my matches”. When off, nothing more is sent. The matches already sent carry nothing that tells us they are yours, so we cannot find them to delete them: they are deleted after 12 months anyway.
By saying yes you confirm that you are at least 14, or that a parent agrees. If you say no, the game works the same and does not ask again.
We process them because you allow us to (article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR).
You must be at least 14 to create an account. Under 14, a parent creates the account. Without an account you can still play, at any age.
Only to let you play: to find your progress again, play online, keep the leaderboards and sign in to your account from another phone or computer. No ads, no profiling, no selling of data. We process them because the game you use needs them (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR).
The game’s database and functions are on Google’s Firebase servers in Belgium. Usage data and the matches you send us are in Belgium too, in Google Cloud (Cloud Logging, Cloud Storage and BigQuery). The account is in Firebase Authentication, a Google service that may also process data outside the European Union, with the safeguards Google describes in the Firebase privacy page.
The game downloads its code from www.gstatic.com (Firebase, by Google) and from cdn.jsdelivr.net (the graphics, three.js): as with any file downloaded from a website, these servers see your device’s IP address.
If you use the comments button on the site, the comment and what you mark on the page go to the server of the people who make the game (vedi.mademind.studio). Without that button, nothing is sent.
If you cannot do it, write to mademindteam@gmail.com and we will delete them for you.
You can ask us to see your data, to get a copy, to correct it or to delete it. If you think we handle it badly, you can turn to the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (the Italian Data Protection Authority).
